UNDERSTANDING MAN (Metropolitan Area Networking)

Hy Sob ,, See you again on my blog, next time I will give material about MAN (Metropolitan Area Networking) from the beginning of the understanding, functions, shortcomings and strengths I will explain below to cpeat directly just refer to the material below.
Understanding MAN
MAN Network (Metropolitan Area Network) is a type of computer network that has a wider range and is more sophisticated than LAN computer networks. Called the Metropolitan Are Network because this type of computer network is used to be able to connect existing computer networks from one city to another.
To be able to create a MAN network, telecommunications operators will usually be needed which can connect between computer networks with other computer networks. For example, the Ministry of National Education network between regions or cities and even a network of malls to be able to interact with each other between cities. This network includes a city that is equipped with high data transfer rates. Can be said if the MAN network is a combination of several LAN networks.
The range for the MAN network itself ranges from 10-50 km. MAN networks only have one or two cables but are not equipped with switching elements that can function to make the design simpler. The cable also functions to regulate the power pack via the output cable. But there are main reasons why MANs are separated as special categories. This is because the standard has been determined for the MAN network. Even the standard is now being implemented. The standard in question is DQDB (Distributed Queue Dual Bus) or known as 802.6 in accordance with the IEEE standard. DQDB consists of 2 cables, namely unidirectional, where all computers are connected.
There are 2 ways of connection that are usually used, first is a connection that uses wireless methods and the second is a connection that uses a fiber optic cable. For example, the network contained in the Bank. Each bank of course has a head office and branch office. From each office, whether the head office or branch certainly has a LAN network, which is where the merger of LAN networks in each of the offices will form a network of MAN. This MAN network can usually support data either text or sound. It can even be related to radio waves or cable television networks.
Wireless MAN can usually play on several frequencies, including 900 MHz, 1.5 GHz, 2 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.3 GHz, and 5.8 Ghz. And the frequency currently permitted by the Government of Indonesia to be used by the general public is at the 2.4 GHz frequency.
MAN Network Functions
The function of the MAN network itself is to build and implement a network system that combines servers with the aim of being able to meet all the internal needs of the company and government in communicating a network that is used so that it can perform various activities such as chat, messenger, and others using bandwidth local.

MAN Network Advantages and Disadvantages
MAN Network Advantages:
- Servers located at the head office can function as data centers of all existing branch offices.
- Real-time transactions (data on the central server will be updated right away)
- The area coverage of the network is wider compared to other computer network systems, so that communication can be more efficient and of course simplify the business done.
- Communication made between one office and another can use chat, e-mail and more.
- Presence of Video Conference (ViCon)
- Security from MAN computer networks is better than others.
MAN Network Deficiencies:
- The operational costs of a MAN network are more expensive than other networks.
- Installation of network infrastructure is not easy.
- If there is trouble on the network such as a network trouble shoot it will be complicated to overcome it. So that it takes a long time to fix it.
- Can be a target of crackers which are used for personal gain.
